World Humanitarian Day is a time to recognize those who face danger and adversity in order to help others. This year's World Humanitarian Day draws attention to the tens of millions of people around the world living amid crises, conflicts and disasters.
"Today on World Humanitarian Day, and every day, UNFPA stands strong for the human rights and inherent dignity of every human being," said UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin in his statement commemorating the day.
This year, UNFPA is supporting the global #ShareHumanity campaign, which reminds us that every person can make a difference, from humanitarian responders - many of whom are themselves survivors - to activists and supporters around the world.
Below are just a few of the many survivors and responders who inspire us. Click on the images to read their full stories, and help us celebrate their courage and commitment by sharing your own thoughts with the hashtage #ShareHumanity.
