KATHMANDU, 1 Sept 2017 — The National Planning Commission and the United Nations Country Team in Nepal signed the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for 2018-2022 at a special function today.

The UNDAF lays out the development strategy for the UN Country Team in Nepal for the next five years. Honorable Chairman of the National Planning Commission Mr. SwarnimWagle at the event noted:“We are pleased to be signing this framework with the United Nations in Nepal, it is broadly aligned with our national priorities as envisioned by the Government of Nepal. And it is our hope it will contribute to our ambition to achieve the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.”

At the signing ceremony, United Nations Resident Coordinator Ms. Valerie Julliand stated: “The UNDAF shows what the UN can achieve when it works together across agencies and mandates. The strong alignment of the UNDAF with the national plans, international conventions, and the Constitution of Nepal provides the foundation to support the Government of Nepal’s efforts in ensuring that ‘no one is left behind’ as laid out in the Sustainable Development Goals.”
