The 3rd Asia Regional Focal Point Workshop will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 1st-4th October 2018. The key objective of this year’s workshop is to strengthen a solution-focused approach to accelerating progress toward 2020 and beyond through: 1) analyzing progress to identify gaps and challenges; 2) learning from other countries, including high-impact and best practices; 3) prioritizing catalytic actions and interventions for the next 18 months; and 4) reaffirming roles and responsibilities to support coordination and stakeholder engagement.

Family Planning 2020 (FP2020) is a global community of partners working together to advance rights-based family planning. The FP2020 partnership was launched at the 2012 London Summit on Family Planning, with the goal of enabling 120 million additional women and girls in 69 countries in the world to voluntarily use modern contraceptives by 2020. By making a commitment to FP2020 in 2015, Nepal has joined the global movement of leaders, experts, advocates, and implementers who are addressing the most challenging barriers to expanding contraceptive programs.

In the FP2020 approach, countries lead the way, and a team of Focal Points representing government, civil society, and core partners works with the FP2020 Secretariat and stakeholders to drive progress on the country’s FP2020 goals. In each region, the FP2020 Secretariat convenes a regional focal point workshop every 18 months with country focal points, technical experts, and partners to discuss challenges and to prioritize actions to accelerate progress at the country and regional level.
