The National Conference on Family Planning is going to be organized in Kathmandu on 18-19 March 2019 with the theme “Reaching the Unreached”.
The conference is organized by the Ministry of Health and Population with the support from DFID, UNFPA and ADRA along with 20 organizations. The conference provides an opportunity for stakeholders to disseminate knowledge, celebrate successes, and identify next steps towards reaching the goal of expanding and improving access to family planning services and information. It comprises an inaugural session, four plenary sessions and 24 parallel sessions by eminent scholars on several topics. They include meeting the unmet need for family planning services, reaching the unreached population such as adolescents and marginalized groups, increasing the demand for family planning, improving the stagnant contraceptive prevalence rate, exploring the way forward, expanding access to quality family planning services etc.
The progress the country has made so far in relation to its commitment to FP2020 will be presented, discussed and evaluated during the event to chart a course forward. A total of 30 plenary sessions and 30 posters will be presented under different scientific tracks that include creating enabling environment and demand generation, ensuring service delivery, building capacity and promoting research and innovations for family planning followed by interactive sessions.
This conference will be a platform for policy makers, donors, program implementers, health professionals, researchers, academicians, students, activists, volunteers and others to renew their commitment to support the right of women and girls to decide, freely and for themselves, whether, when and how many children to have. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav is the chief guest of the conference.
