International Day of Non-Violence
This Day is an occasion to disseminate the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness. The UN General Assembly resolution A/RES/61/271 of 15 June 2007 reaffirms "the universal relevance of the principle of non-violence" and the desire "to secure a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence".

International Day of Older Persons
Older persons are playing an increasingly significant role in society as they grow in number and as healthcare improves in some parts of the world. However, as UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stated in 2014, "Discrimination and social exclusion persists" for older persons and "we must overcome this bias in order to ensure a socially and economically active, secure and healthy ageing population."
