Who We Are

The United Nations Population Fund — UNFPA — is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency in Nepal. Globally it has a mission to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.

We have set out to deliver three life-changing results by 2030, which is the deadline for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. These are zero unmet need for family planning, zero preventable maternal deaths, and zero gender-based violence and harmful practices such as child marriage.

The UNFPA 9th country programme document was endorsed by the Executive Board in 2023. The outcomes and targets are in line with national priorities and the renewed national commitments made at the International Conference on Population and Development, ICPD+30. Our partnerships lead to positive outcomes for women and adolescent girls that are transforming their lives in Nepal.
